Scope Miami’s 2006 Art Fair

Scope Miami’s 2006 Art Fair

On Thursday, December 7, 2006 , Gen Art and Scope Miami in association with Flamingo South Beach will celebrate “Culture on the Verge” the opening night party for Scope Miami’s 2006 Art Fair with a mind-blowing interactive evening sure to engage every aspect of the senses. The evening will begin at 8pm in the stunning artist-designed 40,000 square foot pavilion created specifically for this year’s Scope Miami located in Roberto Clemente Park at 101 NW 34 Street in the Wynwood Arts District . Guests will be able to preview exhibitions from over 95 top galleries from 14 countries.

Interactive highlights include:

An exhibit entitled “Blind Trust” from photographer Juan Carlos Zaldivar will take participants behind the scenes of his creative process. The conceptual piece which tackles our fears of terrorism and amorphous enemies seeks to create a small circle of trust between participant and artist. Individuals are asked to pose for nude abstract Polaroid photographs in a private studio on the premises and become part of a temporary photo exhibit that will also allow guests to take their photo home at the end of the night.

Massimiliano Peretti's interactive performance piece explores how emotional reactions filter and distort human perception and observation by using bio-feedback technology to analyze people's emotional status as they watch video art then converting these signals into music, so that the consequent sound environment will simultaneously mirror and distort the viewer's emotional state.

The Sanchez Brothers will use 3-D holographic projections to recreate passengers' near-death experiences inside a crashed bus's interior. The viewers, looking through the back window of the bus, will see what appear to be celestial visions that float inside the interior of the bus. To best represent these elements, the Sanchez Brothers use the 3-Dimensional video projection technique called 'Eyeliner'-the first time that this process has been used in this kind of non-traditional setting.

Advance tickets for “Culture on the Verge” are $15 and can be purchased at www.genart.org or by calling (305) 695-8200. Tickets at the door are $20.

See you at The Sanchez Brother's. Cool.
