Rock The BellsIs hip hop really dead? Great minds have pondered this question for a few years. Many have already poured out their liquor for this fallen soldier, waiting faithfully for a second coming. Others are in the denial stage, claiming nothing is wrong. Then there are those who desperately fight to keep it alive. This fight is coming to Miami. The latest cure for this ailing culture... the Rock The Bells hip hop festival. Only a hip hop head or maybe a savvy suit could've come up with this line-up. (In reality it was Guerilla Union who came up with the tour.) Wu-Tang, Nas, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Immortal Techniques, Pharoahe Monch, and Jedi Mind Tricks are set to grace the stage. Even David Banner and UGK were able to sneak in to the line up. Supernatural is set to host this meeting of the rhymes. However, what's most surprising isn't the line-up. It's the price, general admission is only $48.50. If you really want to splurge you can throw down $120 for VIP tickets. They'll get you a book bag, festival t-shirt, posters and access to the VIP lounge and party among other things. Regardless of where you are in the crowd you should consider yourself lucky. Miami was a last minute addition to the tour. Originally only three festivals were scheduled with one stop in New York and two in California. Fifteen shows have now been added to the schedule. This will not be just a concert. The all day event is a celebration of hiphop, complete with historic performances and over priced booths. Let it be known, those down with the "Save Hiphop Before It Really Dies" cause will be at Bayfront Park Amphitheatre on August 4 for the Rock The Bells festival.
