Depthcore: Fresh and Aged
In recent months, and possibly even years,
Miami has seen changes from its looks and styles. Our
Miami Heat actually became a good basketball team. Places started to get cleaned up a little bit. The corruption in this fair city has taken care of itself, albeit all over the Miami Herald lobby floor. Still, many things have changed, except for possibly the taste in art seen generally in the city. If you're getting sick of all those rooster statues and the infinite pieces
Romero Britto seems to be pulling off, then perhaps something a little more electronic is what you need.
Enter
depthcore.com , a digital art/music gathering grounds. Founded in 2002 by
Justin Maller and
Kevin Stacey, it's dedicated itself to everything original. Currently 80+ members strong, it defies the norm with original art and music, made by people from all walks of life. They distribute packs every month or two, containing their latest artwork and sound recordings. Well known throughout the electronic media underground, it's been a site that's been able to make fresh and new things happen.
