Dining Out: Miami guide to the underground pt.2

Dining Out: Miami guide to the underground pt.2

There is a current culinary renaissance taking place in the Magic City, don't sleep on it. With a flurry of new eateries popping up, we are taking on a resurgence of good eatz.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, it was suffer through utterly painful experiences in so called haute eateries, most likely located in South Beach.

During said Laisse affair it was standard operating procedure to deal with an uppity staff whose sole purpose was to belittle guests and drain them of every penny possible. Bottled water the norm, overpriced wines, and pallid – stale – obnoxious food in which an over ambitious chef probably read off a menu from New York City....

Back to the point, fast forward to Miami two oh oh six:

Cross the bridge to the burgeoning Mecca which is known by many a cutesy nick name. Upper East Side, Mid-Town, The Corridor, The Boulez (rhymes with fully), The District, just a handful of color monikers used to describe an area forgotten about less than a decade ago. Call it what you will; just know what it's all about.

Keepin' it Real

Fine establishments such as A, Stop Miami, Lost and Found saloon, Bullfrog Eatz, and the Mother lode Michy's all contribute to one common factor, neighborhood joints. Each remains unique on its own two feet, but when viewed as a whole represent what is to come: Reasonably priced establishments at a well perceived value - not, "How much can we charge for a cappuccino?"

Sure it may be impossible to navigate the streets with all the construction. Maybe we will finally get that much needed boost in pubic transportation? Trolleys slicing thru northeast second avenue, our newest byway keeping us off of Biscayne's scarred and tattered surfaces....

as published in the Biscayne Boulevard Times....

Rated 5 out of 5Let's not forget Enriqueta's on NE 2nd avenue and 26th Street, and the classic S-n-M Diner!
