A world of Turkish Delights!

A world of Turkish Delights!

There is a saying in Turkish that goes something like this: “If you want to know a person, either travel with them, eat with them or go and drink raký with them”. Use good judgment when choosing whom to drink raký with as it is quickly intoxicating. When you sit down at A La TurcaMediterranean Restaurant in Hollywood, Florida, you don’t have to worry about whom you’re drinking with because at this restaurant, everyone is treated like one big family.

One of the few family owned Turkish restaurants in south Florida, A La Turca is known for their delectable health conscious cuisine and warm elegant atmosphere. Whether you want a full course meal comprised of such delicacies as hummus & pita, lamb shank (that easily falls of the bone) served with a salad and roasted potatoes with a hint of rosemary or just some delicious hot Turkish coffee and mouth watering baklava. Either way, you’ll leave the place completely satisfied with a full stomach in tow! But wait! There’s more! For the more adventurous types that like to hang out for awhile after eating then I suggest relaxing outside on the front patio area and smoke a few tokes on the hookah (A La Turca has several varieties of sweet tasting tobacco available for you to experience).

The dress code is casual, the prices are very reasonable considering the amount of food you get and it’s nestled right on Hollywood Blvd. away from the craziness of Harrison Street. So take my advice and go check them out. You won’t be disappointed!  Also, during season, there is usually some kind of live entertainment happening usually local musicians or bellydancers.

Rated 3 out of 5You're absolutely right about the hummus! But it's one of the most popular appetizers there. Personally my favorites are the Beyti and the lamb guvech. Thanks for your comments!!

Rated 5 out of 5I like A La Turca alot as well.

just for the record, hummus is not Turkish :-) I think it's middle eastern. I don't know how it happened; when somebody says hummus, they think it's turkish.

You'll have hard time finding it in Turkey. So enjoy the hummus in the US before going to Turkey, you are not getting any over there :-)
